This blog started out as a way to keep in touch with our friends and family during our honeymoon. We called this 38 day trip… the ‘Super-Awesome-Mega Trip.’
The trip began in Hawaii and then continued on the Celebrity Millennium, where we sailed across the Pacific Ocean. Making a few stops along the way in American Samoa, Fiji, New Zealand and ending up in Sydney, Australia. We also had the opportunity to see a total solar eclipse during the cruise (which was absolutely amazing!) After the cruise, we spent 12 days in Australia, visiting Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, and Uluru. It ended with a 36 hour travel marathon back home with layovers in Guam and Tokyo along the way!
We never expected this blog to be as popular as it is! So, we decided to keep it up and use it for all of our travels around the world.
A year later we went out west to Las Vegas for our first anniversary. We visited a Bryce Canyon and a couple Nevada State Parks.
And six months after that went went south for the winter, very far south! With spent a few days in Rio, a few more in Buenos Aires before boarding a ship that took us to see penguins in the Falklands, and glaciers in the Beagle Channel. Next we rounded Cape Horn and made our way across the Drake Passage to Antarctica to see even more penguins. And on the way back we visited Uruguay.
The following summer we spent three weeks in the Mediterranean.
We toured Rome, Florence, Vatican City, and Venice. Then we boarded another ship that took us to Dubrovnik, Croatia, four stops in Greece, two in Turkey, Malta, Sicily and a lastly a trip to Pompeii!
In 2015, we traveled to Iceland to see a partial eclipse and the Northern Lights, went on two Caribbean cruises (one in the summer and one in the winter), and visited our final continent, Africa. In Africa, we traveled around South Africa, including a visit to Cape Horn and Kruger National Park. We also took a trip to Victoria Falls and even took a dip in the Devil’s Pool.
In 2016, we went to Alaska and the Yukon. That trip included a day in Barrow, where we saw our final ocean (Arctic), and a cruise down the inside passage. We are also going on a southern Caribbean cruise to the Panama Canal.
Next year is another exciting year for us. In August, we will be traveling to the western US to see a total eclipse, as well as some national parks. In September, we will be going on a Galapagos cruise. We can’t wait to swim (yes…. swim!) with penguins!
