This blog started out as a way to keep in touch with our friends and family during our honeymoon. We called this 38 day trip… the ‘Super-Awesome-Mega Trip.’
The trip began in Hawai’i and then continued on the Celebrity Millennium, where we sailed across the Pacific Ocean. Making a few stops along the way in American Samoa, Fiji, New Zealand and ending up in Sydney, Australia. The centerpiece of the both the trip and the cruise was to see a total solar eclipse (which was absolutely amazing!) and the inspiration for the tagline of this blog. After the cruise, we spent 12 days in Australia, visiting Sydney, Melbourne, Uluru, and Cairns. It ended with a 36 hour travel marathon back home with layovers in Guam and Tokyo along the way!
We never expected this blog to be as popular as it is! So, we decided to keep it up and use it for all of our travels around the world.
Six months after that, we began another super trip. This time we went went south for the winter, very far south! We spent a few days in Rio, a few more in Buenos Aires, before boarding a ship that took us to see penguins in the Falklands, and glaciers in the Beagle Channel. Next we rounded Cape Horn and made our way across the Drake Passage to Antarctica to see even more penguins. And on the way back we visited Uruguay.
The following summer we spent three weeks in the Mediterranean. We toured Rome, Florence, Vatican City, and Venice. Then we boarded another ship that took us to Dubrovnik, Croatia, four stops in Greece, two in Turkey, Malta, Sicily and a lastly a trip to Pompeii!
In 2015, we took a different approach. Instead of one huge trip, we decided to go on several smaller trips. The first trip of the year took us to Iceland to see a partial eclipse and the Northern Lights, and other geological highlights.
In the summer we went on an eastern Caribbean cruise where the highlights was visiting St John.
In the fall we visited our final continent, Africa. There we traveled around South Africa, including a visit to Cape of Good Hope and Kruger National Park. We also took a trip to Victoria Falls and even took a dip in the Devil’s Pool.
In 2016, we took a longer trip that explored the pacific northwest. We started in Seattle, then went to Alaska where we went to the top of the world in Barrow (Where we saw our final Ocean: Artic), saw wildlife in Denali, and an amazing day cruise seeing plenty of sealife in the Kenai Fjords. The second half of the trip featured a cruise down the inside passage, where we saw calving glaciers, whales, a ride into the Yukon, before finishing in Vancouver.
2017 featured two exciting trips. The first took us on the great American road trip to the western US, the Great American Eclipse of 2017, and then a tour some of the more famous national parks: Yellowstone, Teton, Acrhes and Canyonlands.
In September, we will be going on a Galapagos cruise. We can’t wait to swim (yes…. swim!) with penguins!
