Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
We’re back on road again, and for the first time we’re on an actual vacation. For this trip we decided to go to Florida to spend some time relaxing there, then get on the Oasis of the Seas to relax some more as we revisit some Caribbean islands.
On this trip, we are celebrating Harry’s 40th birthday, so we are also joined by a new younger breed of cats. Rachel’s brother Harry and friends; Abby, Harvey, Jo Ann, Andy and Brandon. Returning are also Rachel’s parents Becky and Leigh and their friends Debbie and Greg. Altogether there are 12 of us in our party.
This morning we all boarded the Oasis of the Seas. It is of the largest class of cruise ships ever built. It can carry over 6000 passengers! It’s so large that only a handful of ports around the world can accommodate her. Despite the size and number of passengers, it wasn’t too difficult to make it through security and get checked into the trip.
Let’s just say that we had a prolonged experience making our way to find dining once on board; one which allowed us to adequately tour our home for the next week. Ultimately, we had a healthy lunch in the solarium, because the Windjammer was too crowded.
After the mandatory muster drill we went back up to the solarium for frosty fruity beverages and watched the world sail away.
A couple hours later, Ryan had surfing lessons on the Flow Rider. Some of you may recall his performance from a few years ago.
This time around Ryan did markedly better, demonstrating with a determined face his resolve and his agility on the fake waves.
And of course he still wiped out at the end of each try.
In the evening we all got together for dinner in the Main Dining Room. Later Rachel, Harry, Andy , and Harvey went to the casino.
Tomorrow we make port in Nassau, Bahamas for a few hours. In the evening most of the group will see the musical Cats on board.
