Tango!

Location: BA

Today is Valentine’s Day, and despitehaving been together for over four years, this is the first time we are spending the day together. In the past Ryan was away for work, in Europe, much of February. Ironically it took us going to yet another continent to be together. And tonight we had a special tour planned. That left most of the day free. The weather was beuatiful so we decided to go to the zoo.

The zoo itself was a decent size full of the animals you would expect to see; lions, tigers, bears, an elephant, monkeys and exotic birds. Unlike the zoos we are used to attending, the barriers between the animals and people were much shorter and lower, giving a better view of the animals. Uniquely it also had an albino tiger, which is different from a white tiger. It also had a lot of free roaming patagonian mara (wikipedia link) which are native to Argentina, are threatened, and look like a chimera of kangaroo, dog and rabbit.

During the day we leanred that the hotel we are staying at is coincicentally one of the hotels Celebrity uses for guests to use before embarking. So a very large amount of people, if not a majority of the guests, are also going on the Antarctic cruise this Sunday. It has made for some interesting lobby and elevator small talk.

In the evening we went to a steak dinner and tango show. The food was great and the dancers even more impressive. At the dinner, we were seated next to a group of four Australians who were also with us on the Corcovado tour in Rio a few days ago. As it turns out, they too are also going on the Antarctic cruise this weekend. Small world!
